Nedra Young

Nedra’s professional background is in the legal field as a certified legal assistant — working the right-side of her brain for 37 years. At the age of 43, she became a mom with two boys in the same year. Her first son, Preston, was born in March and seven months later she had Parker. Those years were hard, but she didn’t argue with blessings. Nedra continued to work in the legal field until 1999, when she decided to spend what little energy she had left in the day working with her husband Reuel at their architectural firm, Interactive Design Corporation, in Palm Springs. Reuel’s skills as an architect melded perfectly with Nedra’s legal background. As a partner in their company, she began selecting the furniture for the interiors of housing projects designed by the firm. This creative role engaged the left-side of her brain.

Nedra’s first introduction into mosaics was in 1992, when she and Reuel decided to tile their back patio. He wanted a “design” and she wanted it DONE. So, they compromised, and Reuel designed a river of mosaics. He explained the “vocabulary” of the design, showed some ideas, and off Nedra went. She was enthralled immediately and went on to mosaic the built-in barbecue and bathroom wall. Reuel was afraid she would mosaic the toilet seats.

Nedra started working with Jennifer on the Cathedral City Fountain of Life, a project designed by their architectural firm. Her first assignment with Jennifer was to clean up her work site and organize all of the different tiles. She was in heaven. Nedra loves to organize, so this project was right up her alley. And thus began their partnership…
